What is areola Tattooing Areola reconstruction tattoo is a 3D simulation of a nipple, which is a form of paramedical tattooing, implanting natural pigments into the superficial layer of the skin.
It is generally done over two visits to your chosen practitioner. This life changing technology is revolutionary and takes many hours of skill and an artistic ability to deliver such a design of true realism and I am very proud to introduce and offer paramedical tattoo of areola reconstruction in a safe and clean clinic, where I can help to restore your confidence with symmetry and balance.
Areola tattoos consist of artistry mastered to achieve beautiful realism of the natural nipple, sometimes an areola must be designed and simulated to copy and mirror an existing nipple the individual may still have. This is comprised of shading with carefully chosen pigments to create the surrounding areola and an artistic flare to enable the designed nipple itself will look 3D like the nipple is protruding from the skin. Many women have heroically thought through breast cancer and endured mastectomies and breast surgeries resulting in irregular nipples and in some cases their areola is now non-existent, leaving a void in our self confidence many women have expressed their loss of femininity, feeling self-conscious in a bathing costume or on the beach.
Breast cancer is not the only reason why people require areola reconstruction, there are many incidents resulting in the need of this 3D technology.
Who can have areola reconstruction?
- Men and women post-surgery
- Those that have undergone breast reconstruction, augmentation, breast reductions and breast lifts.
- Burn victims, left with burn scaring and in need of areola reconstruction.
- Asymmetrical and or irregular areolas.
- Cancer survivors both single and double mastectomy
- Individuals undergoing gender reassignment
- Skin conditions resulting in irregular definition or colour in the areola
- Skin damage, skin craft and scaring and discolouration.
What to expect on treatment day?
Kerry will explain the procedure in full before the treatment commences, pictures of the area will be taken, and new drawings and markers will be sketched onto the skin to show you what to expect and what can be achieved. On your approval of the predesign kerry will discuss colour choices. The procedure itself can take between 1 to three hours. So do allow for plenty of time as artwork such as this cannot be rushed.
Consultation
It is always a pleasure for me to meet you prior to any bookings so we can share a coffee and just talk about your journey so far in order to give me indication on the area that I’m due to treat. This aspect of the pre treatment is very important in order to asses skin tone, scar tissue and/or skin damage. We will discuss Size and shape and colours to create the perfect design to suite your Fitzpatrick scale. It is my duty of care to you to asses all areas pre reconstruction at our consultation in order to manage and formulate an action treatment plan.
Contra-Indications
These are aspects that may prevent the treatment taking place
- You must be over 18 years of age
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Under influence of alcohol or drugs
- Poor skin quality
- Open wounds
- Present infection
- Fresh scaring
How to care for your new Areolas
There are three main stages to healing. 1.heal; the body’s natural defences will create fine scabs to protect the area whilst healing. 2. peel; after several days, after the tattoo has healed the scabs will lift and fall off. DO NOT PICK the treated area as this will affect the result in the remaining pigment. 3. fade; after the two stages above have completed and healed the remaining pigment will be softer and lighter. At the end of the 4-6 weeks post tattoo you will see your final areola colour.
After 24 hours you can have a shower, in order to keep the treated area clean, but do not use soap or soak the area. Place clean sterile gauzes In you Brar/shirt to aid comfort. Do not touch the treated area with your fingers.
To control Infection
Do not sleep on your stomach Follow all of the above steps for 14 days in order to gain best results The colour will appear 20 -30 darker and brighter than the expected final result for the first few days.
